I recently picked up shadows from the new Mac Surf Baby summer collection. (The collection also includes a gray shade that I didn’t purchase). Mac puts out so many limited edition collections throughout the year and it is typically hit or miss. This collection (as far as the eye shadows are concerned) is a hit. These shadows are very nice as far as pigmentation and texture. They feel real silky, which doesn’t happen very often with Mac. I’m hoping Mac keeps this formula for its future collections. The colors actually remind me of an episode of ‘That 70’s Show’ or ‘The Brady Bunch’. If the teal green shade were more of an olive, it would scream 70’s. My favorite color by far is the teal green. I have to do another look using this color. It’s gorgeous.
I also picked up an eye liner (featured in this post) and a gloss in the shade Krazy Kahuna. I absolutely love this gloss. It is a pretty terracotta shade (a browner version of the Saffron eye shadow) perfect for those with medium to brown skin with a warm undertone.

I started out by putting Painterly all over my lid and up to my brow bone and a little bit under my lower lash line. To blend the edges of the primer, I brushed on Mac’s Soft Brown, which is a skin tone shade for me. I also put this color in my crease and up to my brow. Using a Mac 217, I blended Saffron into my crease. I then put Sun Blonde on my lid and blending it lightly into Saffron using a Mac 239. To darken the outer corner, I took Mac’s Carbon and formed a soft outer V using the same 217 brush. I patted the cream shade (Short Shorts) into my inner corner and Mac’s Vanilla under my brow bone.
I used MUFE Aqua Liner #12 (real dark brown) to form my wing. I’m still trying to master the art of a winged liner. I only used this product to form my wing. I lined the rest of my eye with UD’s Corrupt pencil liner. With a Sigma 214 (short shader brush), I patted on Surf USA under my lower lash line and under the wing. The teal green shadow (and the wing) may push this look beyond your typical day look. I think this color brings life to the whole look. A green or teal liner used lightly on the lash line or lower water line will calm the look down, but keep the oomph.
This was the first time I tried Clinique’s High Definition mascara. The cost is not much more than Cover Girl’s. It has a brush and a comb that nicely defines my lashes without clumping.
