Lancome had not been a brand I paid too much attention for no particular reason. I am a fan of their Définicils Mascara and the Cils Booster XL lash primer has become a staple. About a year ago, I purchased a few of their Rouge In Love lipsticks and they are okay, but nothing to brag about. I’m just now trying their L’Absolu Rouge line and they are absolutely lovely. If you are a lipstick fan and love cool packaging, you must check these out.

I was intrigued by their L’Absolu range by watching one of my favorite YouTuber’s, Lisa Eldridge who is Lancome’s Global Creative Director.  She was discussing the lipsticks and showed the new sleek lipstick packaging with a push-button open case and I was immediately intrigued. I’m not a complete sucker for cool packaging, but when the product is great too, my wallet is in trouble.

I always swatch lipsticks on my hand while at the store, so, it is hard to decipher how a lipstick will feel when applied. More importantly, how it will feel on the lips after hours of wear. Out of the wide range of lipsticks I own from $8 drugstore to high-end department store, these are the best I’ve tried in recent memory. They apply like butter and feel so creamy and comfortable on even after hours of wear. All three I purchased have great pigmentation. Lancome says these should last for up to 8 hours. I’m too addicted to lip balm to contemplate trying that, but these last from early morning and were going strong after breakfast and lunch. According to Lancome’s website, the formula for the L’Absolu Rouge hasn’t changed with the base oil being macadamia oil with other nutrients such as Vitamin E.

The L’Absolu Rouge lip colors come in a sheer, cream and matte finish. The shades I picked up were all cream finishes and cost $32.
