This very fall looking collection was released in Mac Pro Stores only this past spring. The online released was delayed until now. To be fair (and in typical Mac fashion), a lot of the products are already sold out in under a week. Last I checked, only the metallic lipsticks were available on line. You may be able to snag one of these by phone order or visiting a Mac Pro store in your area. In the hopes that Mac will restock or bring these shades back, I’m going ahead with this post.
The collection features four nude lipsticks and corresponding eye shadows and four metallic lipsticks and corresponding eye shadows and two powdered blushes. “Metallic” is misleading as the lipsticks are all frost finishes, while the shadows are veluxe pearl. The Nude lipsticks are amplified creams with satin finishes for the shadows.
I took a chance and purchased the darkest nude shade (Restrained) hoping for a nice brown, but it is a pale, pale caramel. It’s basically a lipstick version of Viva Glam V gloss and it went directly into the mistake bin. It looks horrible on me, but will be great for lighter complexions. I picked up two of the nude shadows, Exposed (light brown) and Body Conscious (peachy brown). They will be nice to use for a quick wash of color, blend out other shades or used in the crease for lighter complexions.
I’m completely loving the Metallic side of this collection. The shadows are very pigmented, smooth and easy to blend. There isn’t a dud shadow in the bunch. The lipsticks are incredibly vampy and perfect for fall. The frost finish isn’t scary frosty, but it still isn’t my favorite finish as it can be drying. The only shade that I question is the purple (Dominate). Dominate is very dark and vampy, perfect for Goth looks or Halloween, but hard to pull off for a typical look. My favorite is the brown shade (Subverted). It is the only shade with any sparkle and the gold sparkle makes this shade really nice. The berry and red shades are very wearable and will brighten a deeper skin tone.
The lipsticks and shadows are priced at $15.
