Despite the dramatic red liner, this look is relatively tame. If you’re looking for something with a little more oomph for New Years, but not so bright that your eyes glow, try this look. Of course you can pick any color other than a shimmery red, but red is so pretty.

I started out by applying Nars primer with my finger all over my lid. Using a Hakuhodo shader brush, I applied the lighter shade of Nars’ Isolde duo (click here for arm swatches, 1&2) on my lid and up to the crease, but leaving the outer third bare. Using a Sigma large flat shader brush, I applied Centre Stage to my outer corner. Using the other side of the Hakuhodo brush, I applied the darker shade of the Isolde duo to blend the other two shades together. Using a small crease brush, I formed the Outer V with Mac’s Brun shadow. Using a clean fluffy brush, I softened the edges of the lid shades. I applied a mid-toned brown shade (Inglot #357) into my crease using a Mac 226 brush.
I tightlined and lined my upper lash line pretty thick using a black gel liner and a Louise Young small liner brush. I brought the black line all the way into my inner corner and formed a dramatic wing. I also smudge a small amount of the liner to my lower lash line. Using another liner brush (Inglot 30T) I applied a thin layer of Fyrinnae’s Pixy Epoxy (a sticky base) on top of the black liner. (I put a small amount of the Pixy Epoxy on the back of my hand.) Let the base sit a minute to get tackier.
I used Fyrinnae’s Purgatory eye shadow (shimmery red on a black base) and a very small shader brush (Mac #228) to apply the red shadow on top of the black liner. I also smudged a small amount onto my lower lash line. As the shadow is sitting on top of the sticky base, any excess on the outer and inner corners brushes away.
This look would look great with false lashes, but false lashes aren’t my thing.
