The ‘IT’ List – Sigma’s Sigmax Synthetic Brush

The Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki is a synthetic buffer brush that can be used to blend powder or liquid products. The F82 Round Top Kabuki brush is a better brush for makeup application under the eyes and around the nose. This brush is also perfect for achieving flawless coverage using liquid and powder products.  The F84 Angled Top Kabuki brush is a great brush for blended application of products on the cheeks.

I have a lot of Sigma brushes and some are better than others (their E25 brush is a dead-on dupe of Mac’s 217).  The Sigmax face brushes are nothing short of amazing.  Hakuhodo couldn’t steel me away from these brushes.  I have used either the flat top or the round top for my powder foundation since January 2010 and I have yet to experience a single shed hair.  Not one.  It is very soft and incredibly dense.  The F80 is dense, but the F82 and F84 are even denser.  The F82 has become my go-to foundation brush.  It buffs powder foundation onto my skin like a dream.  I use the angled kabuki brush to contour the hollows of my cheek daily.

The one fault (which really isn’t a fault) is that it takes a long time for the brushes to dry after washing.  I wash my brushes weekly and it takes roughly 12-15 hours for them to dry.  It dries faster if I rub the brush (damp, not wet) onto a clean towel to soak up some the excess moisture.  For those that use liquid foundations, I would suggest you dip the brush into a bit of makeup remover first before using soap.

All three brushes can be used for powder or liquid products and can be purchased for $16 at
