This look features Illamasqua’s Pure Pigment in Ore. I’ve my eye on this shadow since last fall but always put off buying it because of the cost and the amount. I got a bit of a discount at Sephora recently so I decided to take advantage. I also wanted to try the Illamasqua makeup line too.
The shadow itself is quite pretty, but the uniqueness doesn’t get picked up on camera. I used this shadow wet in this look. When used dry it is much softer and more sheer, but in a good way; like a light brown wash of color with lots of multicolored shimmer. I knew the product wouldn’t show up accurately on camera when used dry so I didn’t even make an attempt. Swatches will soon be added to The Swatch Bin.
The downside – you only get 0.04oz of product and it is $24, ouch. The container itself is difficult to work with so I took some of the product out and put it in a makeup sample jar. There is fallout with this product so be forewarned.

I started out by putting a small amount of Primer Potion on with my finger and a thin layer of Groundwork Paint Pot with a Sigma 239 brush. I used Groundwork paint pot so this neutral look would show up better on pictures. It also gives neutral looks more depth. I mixed two matte brown shades for a crease color using a Mac 217 brush. I also blended a small amount of Saffron (red clay) above the crease color just as a bit of a highlight.
To help Ore show up better, I put a light wash of Mac’s Texture (peach-brown) on my lid. I sprayed a Mac 239 brush with Fix+ and patted Ore onto my lid. Using the shade wet makes the gold/bronze base of the color show up more intensely. The multicolored shimmer takes a big back seat, which is unfortunate. If you’re not a shimmer fan, Ore is not the shade for you. It creeps awfully close to glitter.
