Urban Decay 15-Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette

I am not a fan of pre-made palettes.  I truly am not, but I will occasionally make an exception.  The new limited edition Urban Decay 15-Year Anniversary Eyeshadow palette is that exception.

The palette contains 15 brand new, full size (0.05oz) eye shadows for $55.  What made this palette irresistible is the price per shadow, the great pigmentation and the color mix.  My beef with typical pre-made palettes is either there are too many cool toned shades that I won’t use or the pigmentation isn’t consistent.  That is not the case with this set.

I’ve adored Urban Decay’s matte shadows for a while (its creamy texture unmatched by anything else I’ve come across).  I hadn’t delved much into their shimmer shadows with exception to their new shadow pencils.  I’ve heard mixed reviews about their shimmers, but this set gives me courage.

I will eventually depot these shadows, but the casing isn’t too bulky.  Urban Decay describes the casing as gunmetal with a filigree design on the sides.  The palette sits inside a purple velvet-lined compartment that can be used to store other items, but the compartment is quite shallow.

This palette was recently released and already sold out on Urban Decay’s website within hours, but it is now available on their website, Sephora and Ulta.  It should hit Sephora and Ulta stores this week.  Enjoy picture swatches for now.  The shades wills soon be added to my Swatch Bin (this coming week, I promise!).  Looks featuring some of these shades have been done and will be posted soon.

Urban Decay’s shade description:

I am in the process of depotting all my shadows and palettes, and this one I am having a terrible time doing so, the glue is very thick in mine and will not give, even when heated with a hair dryer. I cannot get them out with out the risk of the shadows shattering and since this is one of my favorite palettes, I would would probably cry if they broke. What was your method of depotting this palette?

    • I always use a candle when I depot. I use small pliers to hold the product over the flame and an awl (metal pointed hand tool) to push the pan up from below. I depot over a towel on the floor in case a pan drops. I think you’ll have better luck with a candle than a hair dryer. It doesn’t get hot enough. I’ve never broken a shadow while depotting. Though I have bent a pan, which cracked a shadow, but that was because I was rushing. Good luck!

      Thanks for your comment.
